Jan 2. (CRICKETNMORE) - Dean Elgar century helped South Africa reach a formidable score of 297 for six on day one of the second Test against Sri Lanka at Newlands in Cape Town on Monday.

The hosts, who were asked to bat first, were reduced to 66/3 and went to lunch on 69 for three as Lahiru Kumara (17-1-86-3) dismissed Hashim Amla (29) and JP Duminy (0) in the same over. But Elgar with his career best knock of 129 along with Quinton de Kock (68*) helped to host to post 297/6.
